Georgian Bay, ON - Madeline Buzzi
My first memory of Georgian Bay was not an on-water experience, but instead a panoramic view from the escarpment in Collingwood. From the age of 7, my family skied on the Escarpment every weekend and the icy waters of Georgian Bay that you see while skiing down are a view I will never get tired of.
The first time I stepped into Georgian Bay was at Wasaga Beach, a place where my dad had grown up visiting in the summer with his parents - a tradition which he carried on with our family. I have also been so lucky as to visit some friends’ cottages on Georgian Bay in the stretch between Honey Harbour and Parry Sound. The rocky cliffs which are perfect for jumping, and thousands of islands that make great rest stops while canoeing are what make Georgian Bay so beautiful and special to me and many others.
