St. Lawrence River, ON - Ben Schumacher
My name is Ben and I’m from Kitchener, Waterloo. The St. Lawrence River where it merges with Lake Ontario is the waterbody that influenced me. I just remember mostly when I was around the age of 5 or 6 maybe to 10, my father would take me fishing every Saturday and Sunday morning at probably 4 or 5 in the morning. He’d be waking up at that time to be going to work so I think he got bored on the weekends and just woke up automatically at that time. So he would then wake me up, I remember this poke, more like a jab, I really hated it. Then we’d get out on the water, and he’d drink one beer.
It was interesting because you were on water but you couldn’t actually see the water because the fog would be so thick. But then your idea of what water could be, how fluid water is, was pretty interesting because what caused you not to see the water was just more water blocking your vision so I thought that was kind of nice.
