North Saskatchewan River, AB - John Geiger
My Watermark is the North Saskatchewan River, Alberta.
The North Saskatchewan River was one of the great fur trade rivers. It is such a majestic river; it appears to be slow moving, but it would be treacherous to swim in. The river originates in the Rockies and works its way, in some instances of the watershed, all the way to Hudson Bay.
I grew up along the banks of the North Saskatchewan in Edmonton and later owned a property at Victoria Settlement right to the water’s edge. I would mainly walk along the river, but have enjoyed canoeing and boating as well. The river has White Pelicans, Cormorants and all sorts of wildlife. It’s just beautiful.
