Hudson Bay, QC - Gary Lacey
My Watermark is the Hudson Bay, Quebec.
I was born on the shores of Hudson Bay and I lived there for 19 years, going back and forth between Hudson Bay and southern Manitoba. One of our favourite activities was playing ‘chicken’ with the polar bears on the ice. We would go out with a group and we would see the bears, and as we got closer, whoever turned and ran first was chicken.
In Ottawa, being the steward of the National Capital Commission, the Ottawa River is very dear to me. I am really looking forward to working alongside the riverkeepers to animate the waterfront and bring people down onto the river. Ottawa has always been a river city and we want to remake it into that again.
