Ottawa River, ON - Chris Sheppard
My Watermark is the Ottawa River, Ontario.
I’ve always grown up alongside it. As a young kid we used to play over at Andrew Haydon Park, just west of Ottawa. We were there all the time catching stuff, like frogs and crayfish, then lifting up rocks and chucking them into the water. We’d play all in the mud throughout the side of the riverbank.
I’ve left Ottawa a few times and every time I’m back – whether it be driving along the parkway, over the bridges, or walking by the water – it just feels like home. It’s great the Ottawa River is here for us and will be here for our children, and it will only reveal more treasures as time goes on.
