North Saskatchewan River, AB - Leanne Carruthers
My Watermark is the North Sackatchewan River, Alberta.
My boyfriend and I, we love to (go to) Terwilligar Park, we put in our kayaks, and it's absolutely gorgeous. The last time we went it was a beautiful evening and so we kind of float down the river and you can see the landscape of the city which was gorgeous. We go down to Gold Bar Park area. It's just really really relaxing and calming. It get's us out, so even during the week it kind of feels like you have that little bit of escape, which is great. I absolutely love it.
Our next adventure, we haven't gone past Gold Bar Park towards the North Saskatchewan because we weren't sure where to get out of the river. We have friends that will drive our vehicle, so we can go in on one end of the river and then we still a vehicle when we're ready to get out. Last time we went it was about a 2 and-a-half to 3 hour drive, and it was hysterical because we thought it would only be 2 hours, and it was about 10:30 at night before we finally got out of the water. It was so much fun, it felt like we were on a vacation.
I absolutely love the water. It's a great place for the family, it's a great place to play, you can see all the birds and living creatures around, I love to take pictures, so it's a great opportunity too, not only to get exercise and fresh air, we can do pictures and landscapes. We even meet people at the side of the river that we stop and chat with, it's a wonderful experience.
