North Saskatchewan River, AB - Dawn Stiles Oldring & Erin Pankratz
Dawn Stiles Oldring and Erin Pankratz share their watermark on the North Saskatchewan River.
"We met at the river as friends walking our dogs in the park... Our dogs liked each other first," says Dawn. They have been walking together ever since. Dawn and Erin are grateful that the river is clean enough that they can enjoy it not only from the dog parks but also when they float down it in the summer.
"I love watching the river through the seasons," says Erin, "I love seeing how it changes." She enjoys watching the ice pile up in the winter and break up in the spring. "It's always changing, everyday it's changing, it's beautiful." Erin is a mosaic artist and has completed a work in the Edmonton International Airport that pictures the river in different seasons. "I just love the river through the seasons, so it shows up in my artwork. I think people need to pay closer attention to their surroundings and all those nuanced differences because it's always changing."
