Ottawa River

When I was young at the river, I saw lots of bikes going up and down the bike track and while riding down the river, I knew it would take a long, long time to get back. I remember riding in the motorboat, waiting patiently for cliff jumping, which was happening at the end of the boat ride. I remember going down the river and putting my feet in the water and looking at all the brown, dark, long logs sticking out of the shallow gloomy water.

When I was young at the river, I remember seeing the white rapids swooshing back and forth in the distance as we got closer and closer. Right as we were entering the rapids, I remember holding the boat so tight that it started to hurt my hand while feeling the boat get pushed around by the surprisingly strong rapids. With all the water splashing up into the boat, it was hard not to slip off.
When I was young at the river, I finally reached exactly what I was waiting for, cliff jumping! There were three different heights on the cliff, 3 meters, 5 meters, and 7 and a half meters, and of course I was going for the highest jump. While walking up the cliff I started to develop butterflies in my stomach while peering off the edge, I asked my little brother and cousin to jump off first, they weren’t scared at all, so they gladly went before me. So then, that meant that I shouldn’t be scared because my little brother and my cousin did it with ease and while I was watching them it actually looked pretty fun. There was no way I was going to let my little brother be more courageous than me!

At the river, when it was finally my turn, I remember walking all the way to the edge of the cliff, then taking my shoes off and holding them in my hands while crossing my arms the way the instructor told me to do. Then I just went for it. When I jumped, it felt like I was falling forever until my feet slammed against the tough water so hard it felt like my feet were slapped. Thankfully, cliff jumping came to an end, I thought it wasn’t going to be so high! We then went in the lazy river, which made it all worthwhile!
