For as long as I can remember, water as been all around me. I grew up in a small fishing community; directly outside my parents house windows in Hubbards, N.S. each morning was the sun sparkling on the Atlantic ocean. My fondest memories are of my toes sinking in the sand as the waves brushed over them at Fox point beach, especially when the waves came so fast and strong they’d send me into a whirlwind. My brother and I loved the life that the ocean sustained and were fascinated by its vastness. We would spend time snorkeling in hopes to catch a glimpse of local fish, crabs, starfish, and even the surprise lobster. Even now as an adult, there is something special about looking out over an endless body of water that makes you feel like you’re part of something spectacular.

Very simply put, water has allowed me to grow and watch the life around me grow, play sports and throw water balloons, swan dive and flourish a garden, and so much more. Water is the most essential staple of life; I recognize each day my privilege to have free, clean access and fear the future day water becomes the world's most lucrative and dividing commodity.
