For the past three years, I have had the privilege of dating my lovely boyfriend Graeme. He and his family own a beautiful cottage in Parry sound off of Georgian Bay, where I have spent the majority of my extra time throughout those years. I love every second I spend there, as it truly is a place I can always rely on to cheer me up or clear my head when needed. We often kayak, tube, fish, and hunt for salamanders along the waterline. One trip in particular truly inspired my view on waterbodies and how important they are to us, whether we notice it or not. Many memories have been made on that lake, but one truly outdid the rest.

Last summer, my boyfriend and I woke up expecting a beautiful day on the water to celebrate getting through another school year with success. As expected the water was beautiful and calm, just as we hoped. We sat on the dock and soaked up the sun for hours, watching the friendly neighbours kayak, or boat by with a large smile filling their face. No matter what, everyone seemed to be so content enjoying their time at the lake; the water connected us figuratively and literally in a way that brought us closer than anyone would've thought.

Commonly, now as each person has their own worries in life, we often forget the little things that are so simple but so impactful. I now associate the Parry Sound cottage with nothing but positivity and connection through many who share the lake with us. It sometimes just takes someone to step back and realize how impactful water is to us. Water is in us. It often is taken for granted and has no meaning, but without Georgian Bay, I wouldn't be able to tell you this story and reflect what a connection it brings. That trip truly inspired my love for water and how important it is to everyone; even if we do not realize it.
