Hi, my name is Tim Young. I use the River Valley extensively year-round.

This river valley is an amazing hidden jewel. Maybe I shouldn’t even be telling you about it because I want to keep it for myself, but it is incredible. Often people who live here don’t even realize what they have. I ski here through the winter, alpine touring skiing with climbing skins up and down all through the river valley. There are creeks you can ski on, I paddle. Every single day I run or bike, usually these days I am running.

I live way in the southwest near the Henday bridge; I go all the way to work at the university. You can escape the people and the city, you’re in just in this nature wonderland. The single tracks are amazing. We have paved bike paths if you aren’t up for single track. The wildlife that you see - as I’m running, biking whatever, I come across beavers in the middle of the path and deer and moose. I’ve been right up to moose a number of times! I’ve seen albino weasels and all kinds of unusual birds. I’ve been skiing right here under the Quesnell Bridge where 300 ravens take off in the winter, fly all around me early in the morning – it is incredible.
