Lake Superior, ON - Mary Perkins
About five years ago I backpacked the Lake Superior Costal Trail and was absolutely awed by the inland ocean. Each night the waves increased and smashed against the shore as if it was a gigantic incoming tide. During the day the water extended for miles and miles. The shoreline ranged from rocky boulders (the size of baseballs to the size of Volkswagens) sand beaches, cliffs and lots and lots of trees. Clear rivers ran down from the surrounding hill - so clear you probably could drink from them without treating (but we didn't to stay safe)! It was a pristine place, clarifying to the mind and soul. Sitting by the shore and just watching the lake was so soothing.
