Lake Erie is the most unpredictable of all the Great Lakes. With her shallow waters and wind channeling shape, you never know what you're getting until it's right on top of you.

My very first night on a tall ship, we were caught in one of those famous Lake Erie squalls. In that time, I learned very quickly how to be a part of a team and what it was to be afraid but not having the time to think about it.

This will forever be in my heart as the night I became a true sailor.
