We were exhausted - we had just finished pushing our physical and mental boundaries at the nearby water park, scaring ourselves and screaming with joy, and now we were ready to collapse. We sat on the dock, leaning against one another, feeling the splinters against our legs and the water swishing gently around our feet and the sun beating down on us, and I felt an immense sense of calm and well-being pervade my body. It was truly a perfect afternoon.
