Lake Ontario, ON - Christine Yachouh
My Watermark is Lake Ontario.
When I was younger my parents took my brothers and I on lots of day trips to Port Dalhousie. We would swim, fish, and play. We made many memories there and later we would move to Hamilton and spent less time visiting. When we grew older, we made less occasional visits, but without fishing and swimming. The water was polluted and the fish were scarce. After visiting the beach this past August, it was disappointing to see “swim at your own risk” signs and the water green from algae blooms. Those fun summer swimming and fishing days of my childhood will need to remain a memory until it sees a cleaner season.
