Lake Huron, ON - Sarah W
My Watermark is Pinery Park Beach on Lake Huron, Ontario.
I remember feeling the hot sand going between my toes. I could see the seagulls in the air circling around waiting for someone to drop food for them to eat. In the water I saw kids of all different ages swimming with their families. When I got closer I could hear the waves crashing down on the beach shore.
When I was young at the beach, I walked to the sea line, my family and I looking for a nice spot to put our stuff. We searched tirelessly for a spot where there were no sticks and rocks and grass in the way. Finally, we found one spot at the bottom of a hill. I remember dropping my stuff down and running up the hill to get a beautiful view of the water. I can still feel the blades of the grass on my finger tips. I remember teepees made of sticks that were beautiful.
When I was young at the beach, I put my toes in the cold water. It felt so nice on a hot day. I always would jump in, started swimming around. I remember feeling so many rocks on the bottom. I was curious to see what they looked like so I would dive down to get them. I always collected the ones I liked.
As the skies would get darker, I would come out of the water. I wonder why I’m escaping the cold water and I remember seeing that my parents want to stay longer too. I remember turning around and seeing the most beautiful sunset of my life. We stay until the sun is gone. As I am walking to my car I can still hear the waves moving softly as if the beach is going to sleep.
