Catfish Creek, ON - Ron Evans
My Watermark is Catfish Creek, Ontario.
I live on the flood plane in Port Bruce. It was ice jammed at the mouth of the river (Catfish Creek) during Spring thaw. There was 3 feet of water inside the house at 2:00 in the morning. I was barefooted while I jumped into the water, concerned about being electrocuted by the baseboard heater. I put my scuba wetsuit on, rescued my neighbour to get her safely out of her home and got us to high ground. I then settled in to drink the whiskey at Mary Butler's house (she's 85 years old) for the next four hours while the water receded.
