Lake Champlain, USA - Kiti T.
When I was young at Lake Champlain
When I was young at the lake, I would walk with my friend and her family along the edge of the water. I remember walking barefoot while getting splashed. We would climb up the rock as high as we could near the lake, me in my flip-flops and my friend in her sandals as high as I could go, hoping that we wouldn't fall.
When I was young at the lake, we walked a lot and saw a lot of small fish swimming near the shore. I looked at the seagulls pecking at the ground in search of food. I heard the waves splash, and we never felt the urge to jump in. I even remember sometimes leaving the trailer to go to restaurants and eat different types of cheese curds and french fries. Poutine is, by far, my favourite food to eat by the lake.
When I was young at the lake, I felt very happy because I got to spend time with my best friend, I was on vacation away from home, I was excited to do lots of new things. It was the summer, and we would ride on boats, jumping off of them too. I didn't want to leave because I didn't want to let this memory end.
At the lake, I remember that I took a piece of the rock that I climbed as a souvenir of being at Lake Champlain. But by the time we got home, the piece of rock was cracked in half. It was thin, long, and fragile. I didn't think I needed to protect it. I know I can always come back for another souvenir.
