When I was young at the river, I remember sitting on one rock wondering if Covid would ever end. Covid-19 made me go to the river, simply because I couldn’t do much else. My only options were to play video games, go on my phone, or go outside. I also remember wondering if this was everyday life, going on a computer to “learn”.

When I was young at the river, I remembered life before everything got shut down, thinking about all my memories with family. I remember looking at the green water with rocks and algae everywhere. I remember thinking about how long it would take for me to single-handedly scoop all the water out with a spoon, and me trying to execute it. Not only that, but I remember while scooping, my sister discouraged me, saying I was crazy. I never finished the job, but it still makes me wonder about all my thoughts, and decisions as a younger kid.

When I was young at the river, I remember going to see all the progress the beavers made on their dams. I remember visiting all the ants, bugs, snakes, and other interesting insects under the rocks and in the bushes. I felt scared that maybe a homeless person was going to come out and surprise me. My heart was pounding, and I was getting nervous about falling in the brownish, greenish river.

At the river, I will always remember fishing alone and just self reflecting. It was a good place to relax and think. I remember when I would watch all the fish that jumped out of the water. Even though clouds of bugs were always swarming me, I wish I could go back and fish again peacefully.
