My name is Donna Wawzone and I work with Lake Ontario Waterkeeper.

My favourite water body is Red Sucker River in northern Ontario. I have a really strong memory of this water body because we used to go down in the summers as a family – we’d go camping up in northern Ontario. We’d do it by motorized boat with my parents and my older siblings would canoe down the river. So it would’ve been the first time I would’ve been in a boat, or been up north in the woods. We were going down this river and my siblings canoed out of sight. As we came around a bend in the boat, there was a giant moose in the middle of the river. I just remember being very excited but very terrified. For me it was like coming up on a monster. The moose just looked at us, my dad slowed down the boat, and we just watched it until it slowly moved off.
