After a good day of perch and bass fishing, off the south shore of Amherst Island, my father and Uncle Roy Johnson settled in for a beverage and a few smokes.

The fish we caught were left hanging in the sun (bad idea), which gave me an opportunity to study them, for what seemed like hours.

I've now been fishing in Lake Ontario for 50 years.
