Lake Huron, ON - Denise D
My Watermark is Lake Huron, Ontario.
When I was young at the lake, I would sit in the boat and stare at the sky. The beautiful sun shined down. The vibrant trees swayed in the wind. The perfect colours were warm and all fit together. It was like I was staring at a painting. It wasn't just things around me that were perfect. It was the things under my feet. The small waves rolled in and hit against the large boulders that formed islands. It was truly picture perfect.
When I was young at the lake, I would look for little rocks that had interesting designs. Sometimes I would find something else like an old clam or insect. I would put all my treasures in a small bag and bring them home. Something about the place was ever so relaxing. There was a calmness to it. It made you forget all your worries, live life in the moment.
When I was young at the lake, my family and I would bring fishing poles. We would find a lucky spot in the lake. We would sit there and dangle our lines in the water until it grew dark. My muscles would grow tired from fighting with the many fish that we would cook over the fire, later that night.
Every year we would go to the lake. We still do. We would laugh and joke all day long. We would bring snacks so we could stay out there all day. When I was young at the lake, it was my favourite thing to do, and it still is.
