My Watermark is Georgian Bay, Ontario.
I remember watching that Bill Mason film as a kid, "Paddle to the Sea." It inspired my first Watermark – paddling a cedar strip canoe in Point Au Baril on Georgian Bay. With the setting sun to the west, I glided across the calm water, silently and swiftly. It gave me a sense of calmness and the desire to protect the beauty that surrounded me then and now.
Following this paddle, I've made many trips over the years around the Great Lakes and surrounding area. There is nothing better than listening to the sounds of the water and the secrets that it holds.
