Lake Ontario, ON - Dina Patel
My Watermark is Lake Ontario.
The first time I ever went fishing was when I was 10 years old. We have a tradition where we go fishing together as a family, at least once every 3 months. When I first bought my own fishing rod, I was really excited to go fishing for the first time and join in on the family tradition. As soon as I was ready, we went to Lake Ontario, since it was the closest location. We sailed out, not too far from the shore on a boat and got started. I cast my very first line out into the lake and I remember having to wait for a really long time. After about 35 minutes, I felt a tug on my rod and everyone started to show me how to reel in my line. Unfortunately, since I was just a beginner, I lost that one. I thought that maybe I was not cut out for fishing, but I decided to try again. After waiting about 15 minutes, I got another tug and I reeled my rod in for a second time. This time it actually worked and the fish weighed around 2 pounds. I didn’t think it was so bad for a beginner. Now, 8 years later, my family and I go to different fishing spots every 3 months. Sometimes we take a boat out into the lake, and at times we just stay near the shore.
