Lake Ontario, ON - Cameron Dawson
My Watermark is Lake Ontario.
My name is Cameron Dawson, and I am from Toronto, Ontario. Since I was a young teenager, and my mom let me go on my own, I have always been drawn to fishing. This started out in the Humber River. Once I got my drivers license, I took my dads canoe and started fishing Lake Ontario at Port Credit and the Humber River. As well, all the rives and the lake and even the Toronto Island were so consuming to me as a young teenager growing up. It was all I wanted to do. Even to this day, it is all I want to do. I am even getting my certification for fishing! Growing up in a big city and being connected to Lake Ontario, fishing, swimming, and just enjoying the water is what I like to do. It is almost like having a cottage, but it is right in the heart of Toronto. We don't have to drive far away to enjoy these natural resources of Southern Ontario. In the present, I go up to Lake Ontario with my wife and two kids. We love taking people out, such as our neighbours, who haven't even been out on the Lake. I remember the time that we first took our neighbours out to Lake Ontario. We went with my family, and we went out for the day to enjoy a little bit of lake time. As well, we did what I do best, and went salmon fishing. There is quite a lot of salmon there, and I realized that I am so lucky to be right here in this Lake with such a wonderful fishery. I specifically remember what my neighbours thought of as we went out on the boat. For them, looking back and seeing Toronto gave them such a different perspective about the city. Not many people in Toronto get to understand this because they drive so far away and keep a blind eye to what is right in front of them. On that day, I had such a great time out with my kids, my wife, and my friends, and just enjoying what Toronto has to offer on our boat. For me, I love what I do and I love that I live in such a resourceful city, and I am very happy to get the chance to frequently take advantage of Lake Ontario for more family outings and fishing trips.
