I am from White Rock, I go to a school that's a 20-minute walk away from the beach and every year I have a long-standing tradition of jumping off the pier on Christmas with a group of around 20 friends and family. It's always been a really amazing bonding experience, jumping into the frigid water with people you love and care about, while others wait for you with blankets and towels and peppermint hot chocolate.
