Philippines Sea, Northern Mariana Islands - Junhyeong H

When I was 8 years old, my family flew overseas to a small island called Saipan. The island was so small that you can tour all of it in a day. Still, it is the largest island of the Northern Mariana Islands, a US commonwealth.

On this island, there is a very famous cave called the Grotto. It is connected to the ocean with a number of tunnels. Our family decided to visit this cave and snorkel in the waters during our vacation. We went on a tour bus with a couple others. When we got there, everyone was just astonished by the beauty of the scenery.

The water was so blue and so transparent that you can see the bottom of the deep cave. We dove in and the waves pushed us off shore towards the cave. Inside, we saw coral reefs in all sorts of colors - orange, yellow, green, and blue. They were so charming that we were once again surprised by the magnificence of nature. When time came to leave, I was sad, but in other ways, I was thankful to have experienced the cave. As we left the cave, I wished that this cave was preserved for more people to witness the beauty of mother nature.
