Lake Powell, USA - Natalya V

Last summer, when I was going into Grade 7, I visited Page, Arizona with my parents and brother.

We went to a lake called Lake Powell. We had rented a boat for the day and went wakeboarding and tubing. The water was beautiful shades of blue and was so clear I could see my own reflection and all the fish below. We went tubing first and wakeboarding after. It was our first time wakeboarding but my brother wanted me to go first. So, I did. To get started I got the board on, jumped in the water and waited. Once I started going I fell right away and right on my face. It hurt, a lot. My second time trying I actually got up and didn’t fall right away. I got so excited but then I fell, again. I tried once again and got up and didn’t fall. I was so happy and relieved.

Later on after my brother went, we drove into a small bay where there were not many waves. The walls surrounding the bay were made of rock, there were no cottages or people walking around. It was so calm and peaceful. On one side of the wall, the rock was formed in a way that kind of looked like a painting and people said it looked like angels. I couldn’t really see it at first but after a while it got more clear. At the end of the day it was the best trip I had ever been on. I will never forget it.
