Gulf of Mexico, Mexico - Rylan D
A couple of years ago, on a vacation to Barcelo Maya Colonial Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo, Mexico, my entire family was in the ocean when a typhoon-like wave came and knocked my mom unconscious. She was completely submerged underwater. My dad and I helped her up and she woke up. She yelled…” I LOST MY SUNGLASSES!” They weren't just any sunglasses, they were her prescription sunglasses, meaning she couldn't see.
My dad and I grabbed our snorkel gear, dove back into the ocean and we were on a mission to find them. In our adventure, we found many things, like rings, really thick old-man prescription glasses, lots of garbage and as a matter of fact, we found sunglasses, but...they weren't my moms. While we were snorkeling, we headed to a rocky reef hoping we would find the glasses my mom lost under a rock; the current was so strong we thought they could have come in this direction. As we were looking through the rocks, I found a small, helpless yellow and black striped fish with his fin crammed under and between rocks. I thought maybe the current was so strong it drifted towards the rocks. Thankfully, it wasn't too strong or else he could've died. I called my dad to come over and help, we lifted the rock and set the fish free. We never did find my mom’s glasses. I bet some fish in the ocean looks very stylish in them! But at least we saved the fish I named Giffy.
