Atlantic Ocean, USA - John Rumpler
My Watermark is the Atlantic Ocean at Kennebunkport, Maine.
I’m a Rhode Islander and I grew up right on the Narragansett Bay. My best memory as a kid being on the water was at Kennebunkport, Maine building sand castles when I was about two or three years old. This was on the same beach my mom went to as a kid going back all the way to the 1930’s. To this day we still go to that same beach and I take my daughter there as well; now it’s been three plus generations in our family that’s gone back to that same spot.
There’s a lot of my family history and heritage that’s connected to that coast and water. Being able to go swimming at a beach where the water is clean, where you can take your family, has been a lifelong commitment to me and something that I really care about. We must be able to depend on clean water, whether it’s in Maine or here in the Great Lakes, and you just can’t put a price on it.
