Lake Superior, USA - Liz Robbe
Growing up in the Upper Peninsula, I had easy access to numerous lakes, streams, rivers and swamps. However, no matter where I went to swim, fish, wakeboard, waterski, tube, or ice-skate one waterway always stood above the rest. Lake Superior, the coldest and deepest Great Lake. I was lucky that my older sister chose to go to college at Northern Michigan University, along its shores. I spent most summers rooming in her apartment to enjoy the lake as much as possible. I still cliff jump at Black Rocks, a frequently visited nook on Presque Isle whenever I visit. During my recent ferry ride across Superior from Copper Harbor to Isle Royal National Park, I was able to experience the lakes vastness - where it behaved more like the ocean, than a lake.
