The Lake Amy grew up near is a very deep, peaceful connection to the natural world.
There are algae blooms this year and swimming classes have been stopped at the community center.
Lochaber Lake just outside of Antigonish, has freshwater mussels and is flanked with corn fields on either end.
It is a childhood paradise and cottage development is taking over the waterfront.
