Great Lakes, ON - Dan Kraus
My watermark is from the Great Lakes.
Like a lot of people growing up in the Great Lakes basin in the 1970’s, I had a great impression that the great Lakes were dirty. I still remember as a kid going to Coronation park in Oakville and being told not to touch the water.
It wasn’t until much later in life that I had an opportunity to work at Point Peelee National Park, that I came to see waters that were clean and full of fish that. I came to realize that the Great Lakes where I live is an ecosystem that is as special and wondrous as anything that we have on the planet.
For the future, I hope to see more appreciation for the Great Lakes, and how special they are. In addition, I hope to see protection and restoration of the habitats we have.
