Glenora Creek, ON - Shay L.
My Watermark is the Glenora Creek that runs out of a pond into the Thames Valley river near the outskirts of London.
I really like this spot because it is my secret hiding place where I can just relax, be comfortable, and be my crazy and weird self. This place is special to me because no one can see me because there are willow trees that encircle the creek which surrounds the little piece land in the middle.
My favorite thing to do there is to take a nap and a picnic because the sun shines through and makes it nice and warm. I also love the background noises like birds, the trickling water, and the rustling of leaves. It a place where I can feel safe and just think clearly and not have to worry about other anxieties in my life. I like this place because it’s very fun, calming, and cozy.
One of my favorite memories would be running away to this special hiding spot with my little sister and reading a book together until she got bored and started to tickle me till we were too exhausted to play anymore, then we fell asleep together and woke up to rain landing on our cheek so then we had to run home in the refreshing rain while we laughed really hard. I go to this place by myself just to get away from reality. The quality of this water has changed over the year because of the pollution in the pond and the main river, the Thames Valley River.
These changes affect many animals because eventually one body of water will find it's way to the other and then no one will be able to stop the polluted water from mixing with the clean water. That is why we should try our best to take care of our water systems and water bodies.
