Lake Ontario, ON - Susan Schaefer
My Watermark is Lake Ontario.
Imagine Toronto without the waterfront. It’s such an important part of the city and it’s an important part of who we are. No matter how your day is going, you can always look out the window and see this vast body of water that is just so incredible. It's pretty powerful. It reminds you of the beauty in Canada and this great resource we have all around us.
Canadians have such a strong connection to water and nature. We are so privileged to live on the Great Lakes and have this incredible resource. Canada is one of the greatest freshwater countries in the world. With that privilege comes great responsibility. We have to demand that we have swimmable, drinkable, fishable water.
As Canadians, we believe and we trust that our water is being taken care of. I really believed that, I did, but it's not. It's important for all of us to get involved. To get involved in recreational water activities and show people that we care and that it matters and that water is such an important part of who we are and our communities.
I believe that Canada should be a nation of water leaders. We can be an example to the rest of the world on what it means to have swimmable, drinkable, fishable water.
